Author: John Robinson Hundley III
Richard Durret Sr. was born in 1718 in Virginia the son of Huguenot Bartholomew Durrett. Richard Durrett Sr. rendered material aid to the American Revolution in Albemarle County, Virginia. He married Sarah Hampton. Richard Durrett Sr. died December 17, 1784 and is buried in Wakefield Cemetery in Earlysville, Albemarle County, Virginia. His son Richard Durrett Jr. was a soldier in the Albemarle County, Virginia Militia.
