PETER DUNBAR


Peter Dunbar was born about 1750 and died 1 September 1836. He served in the Revolutionary War as a Private in Captain Abram Washburn’s Company in Colonel Edward Mitchell’s Regiment; service: 6 days. The company marched from Bridgewater to Horse Neck in Braintree March 4, 1776; also Lieutenant Dunbar’s Company in Major Eliphalct Cary’s Regiment; marched 30 July 1780; discharged August 9, 1780; service 11 days; company marched to Tiverton, Rhode Island, on an alarm. He married Alice. He was laid to rest in the First Cemetery also known as Old Grave-Yard, Revolutionary Cemetery, Parish Cemetery, Old Parish Cemetery and Summer Street Cemetery. He has a headstone and an SAR Revolutionary War Service marker. The cemetery is at the southwest corner of the intersection of Summer Street and Plymouth Street in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Directions for locating the cemetery: Take Highway 104 East from Highway 24 into downtown Bridgewater, turn right on Highway 28, the cemetery is on the right.
