Cemetery Road is located off of US Route 62/68 at approximately 5 miles north of the town of Ripley and approximately 1 mile south of State Road 353. The cemetery is located on the east side of the road.

DIXON, WILLIAM  (Brown County)      [38.79677 -83.79579]

Born in Ireland in 1763.  He served as a Private and Sergeant in the Revolutionary Army from Virginia fir seven years.  He married Grizzy A. Bell; Children: ten, including William and Nancy.  He founded a settlement in Mason County, Kentucky. In 1789, he crossed the Ohio River with Neil Washburn.  In 1793 at Logans Gap, he built a cabin on Eagle Creek a mile from the river and lived there seven years.   He was the first white settler to locate in Brown County.  He died in 1838 at Brown County and was buried at Red Oak Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Old Section, 5754 Cemetery Road, Red Oak, OH 45167.  References: History of Brown County, OH, published by Beers & Company, 1883; Miss Eleanor Johnson, Ripley, Ohio, R.
