William B. Denmark (born about 1740) was the son of William Denmark of Hyde County, NC. He sold land in Pitt County, NC in 1765, 1772 and 1774. He was in Craven County, NC by 1778 and was still there in 1784 when he sold land.

While living in Craven County, William served in the militia and is listed on Captain Jesse Bryan's payroll for the New Bern Military District. Two vouchers were issued to him in 1782 for service in the Revolution. In 1784 William sold land in Craven County. On 4 August 1786, he received a Warrant for land in Effingham County, GA. His livestock marks were recorded in Effingham County, GA.

William Denmark made a Deed of Gift (Book CD, Effingham County, GA p 279) on 21 Jan 1795 where he listed his wife, Anna Denmark and her children: Stephen Denmark, Susannah Jones, Jemima Denmark, Levina Rester, Clarisa Denmark, Martha Denmark, Reading (Redden) Denmark. William died 26 Nov 1808 in Bullock County, GA.

William’s daughter Susannah married the Rev. Adam Jones and died in Warren County, Ga. William’s granddaughter Elizabeth Jones married George Washington Glover, son of Patriot John Glover of NC. George Washington Glover and Elizabeth Jones had seven sons: Seaborn, Allen, Stephen, Terry, George W., William, and Simon and four daughters: Gracy, Martha, Olivea, and Elizabeth.

William’s great grandson Allen Glover was the father of Isaac Marion Glover, Civil War Veteran, who married Anna Nanney, granddaughter of Uriah Howard Nanney P-254817 (VA).

Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.

Additional guidelines around the Biography writeup can be found here:

1Upon submission of a patriot biography, the patriot biography becomes the property of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, and may be edited to conform to the patriot biography submission standards.
