Qualifying Service Description:
  1. 1776, served as a Private in the company of Captain William Vanbrike, commanded by Col Peter de Vroome of the New Jersey Militia
  2. He was part of a rotating class of men who could be called out during their active period throughout the war years

Author: Michael J. Blum
Born in Hunterdon County, New Jersey March, 1749, but reared in Hillsborough, Twp., Somerset County, New Jersey. Like nearly all the militia of New Jersey, he was in the classified militia. He served in 1776 under Colonel Vroom. During a tour in New York City when the area was evacuated September 15, 1776, his command retreated to Elizabethtown, New Jersey, then to Amboy where a fort was built. He served three years.
He Died on August 20, 1843 at 90 years and was buried with honors “Revolutionary Soldier of ’76.” At Laboyteaux Cem. on NW corner of Hamilton Avenue and Galbraith Road (6913 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45224-6899). in College Hill. [Deats, Henry-died 20 Aug 1843/90y/"A Revolutionary Soldier of ‘76"] Stone, but no marker.

His wife was Alice ? In 1814 he came to Hamilton County, OH and was residing there on August 25, 1832.
