Qualifying Service Description:
1776, served in the company of CAPT Garret Longstreet, commanded by COL Daniel Henderson.
1777, served multiple tours in different companies under CAPTs Dennis, Carhart, and Bennett of the Monmouth County, New Jersey Militia, commanded by COL Henderson.
1778, served multiple tours in different companies under CAPTs Stillwell, John Walton, and Hampton.
1778-1779, he served in the company of CAPT Elisha Sheppard.

Captain William, “Greenbrier Billy” Davis, was born on 12 March 1758 to Reverend Captain William and Tracy (Crandall) Davis in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Both Rev. William and Tracy were born in Westerly, Rhode Island.
William joined and fought with the New Jersey Militia in the Revolutionary War at the rank of Private.
After the War, he married Elizabeth Johnston of Shrewsbury, New Jersey. They had 13 children, including
Mary Elizabeth “Polly” was born in 1782.
Rev. Peter was born in 1783.
Benjamin L. was born in 1785.
George Johnston was born in 1790 [my 6th gen. great-grandfather].
Rachel was born in 1790.
Asenath was born in 1795.
Deborah was born in 1797.
Tracy B. was born in 1801.
Elizabeth was born in 1803.
Vienna was born in 1806.
Sophia L. was born in 1810.
Priscilla was born in 1811.
The Patriot, William “Greenbrier Billy” Davis, died at Greenbrier Run, Doddridge County, Virginia, on 6 January 1845.

Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format.
