He served as an Ensign, 2nd Company, 4th Battalion, Pennsylvania
In 1781, he paid a Supply Tax in Cumberland Twp, Washington County, Pennsylvania
In 1784, he was listed as a Lieutenant in the Company of Captain Charles Sevan, in the 2nd Battalion commanded by Lt Colonel Henry Enoch

The monument is a flat memorial erected in 1976 by the Ohio DAR which reads "Dedicated to the memory of these Revolutionary War soldiers known to be buried in Sixth Street Cemetery.

Born February 12, 1756 in Pennsylvania. Veteran Lt. of Rev. War. Married Eliza Van Meter (1st wife), Mary Harrington Smith (2nd wife). 19 children by Elsie VanMeter: Henry VanMeter Davis, Wm. Davis, Martha Davis, Sarah Davis, Azariah Leanard Davis, Elizabeth Davis, Rebecca Davis, Rachel Davis. Children by Mary Priscilla Davis: James Davis, Alexander Davis, Lydia Davis, John Davis, Excurius Davis, Mariah Davis, Male ? Davis. He died Sept 22, 1838, near Utica, Ohio and was buried at Old Graveyard, 25 N. 6th Street, Newark, Ohio, 43055. Grave near small mound. He has nearly 2,000 descendants.
