Born October 20, 1759 at Warren, Litchfield County, Connecticut, a son of Parents: Major Eleazer Curtis, Jr., and Mary Carter.  He enlisted as a Private May 4, 1775.  He was discharged December 18, 1775.  He served at siege of Boston, fought at Germantown in 1775 with the Connecticut Troops; wintered at Valley Forge, 1777-1778; and was at the battle of Monmouth.  He married Eunice Starr (1766-1814) Nov 7, 1782; children: Eleazer Starr, Jason Ralph, Walter, Mary, Benajah, Horace, Clarissa and Lucy.  He removed with family from Litchfield County, Connecticut, to Washington County, Ohio in 1791, and settled on a farm lower Belpre.  He died September 7, 1801 at Belpre, Washington County, OH, and was buried at Newbury Community Cemetery, Little Hocking, Washington County, OH.  MI: "Capt Eleazer Curtis, Died Sept 7, 1801, in the 42nd year of his age." GM Marietta Chapter with Revolutionary marker, 1921. References: Conn Men in the Revolution.  12th-19th Annual Reports DAR. Senate documents (United States Congress, Senate). Government Printing Office: Washington, DC.  SAR Ancestor # P-142533. Has name on family monument and a piece of a SAR marker.
