Author: Dr. Michael Bernard Gunn
Born in 1752 in New Jersey. He enlisted in Nov. 1778 and served as a private in Captain Henry’s Company. William Bradford’s Battalion of the New Jersey Militia and participated in the battle of Redbank, New Jersey. He married 1) Anna Chubb on July 18, 1781 and he married 2) Elizabeth (Eliza) Graham in Ross County, Ohio on November 20 1833; children: Elizabeth b. 1782, John b. 1783, Jacob Jr. b. 1800, Joseph b. 1817, Ann, Benjamin, Mary, Priscilla b. 1810, Sarah Ann and Phebe.
Jacob and his family came to Ohio in 1806. He died on March 19, 1848 in Union Township, Ross County, Ohio and was buried in the Crispin Cemetery in Union Twp. located on the Egypt Pike in Ross County. but he was later transferred to the Springbank Cemetery located on State Route 104 in Union Township. Ross County. Ohio. Cemetery Notes: Springbank is an active cemetery on route 104 in Ross County. It is well cared for. Close to the Ross and Pickaway County line, just beyond the little community of Yellowbud. The cemetery is located in Union Township, Ross County, Ohio. A memorial stone at Springbank commemorates his service.
