Barbara Cook was born about 1720 in Hanover County VA and died after 1784. She married Robert Hester II (b abt 1720 Louisa VA; d 1769 Louisa VA) abt 1734. Barbara resided in Mecklenburg County VA during the American Revolution. From September 5 to November 8, 1781 she furnished supplies, cattle (appx. 675 pounds), to support the cause of independence.

Barbara Cook Hester was the mother Captain James Hester of the Mecklenburg County Militia. Other children include Abraham, Charles, Francis, Samuel, Nathan, Barbara, Sarah, Agnes, Elizabeth, Ann, Suzanna, and Mary.
