Johan was born 14 Oct 1748 in Germany to Johan Jacob Kuihlman (Coleman) and Anna Catherine Vorwerck. He emigrated to America with his parents and brother George, arriving in Philadelphia PA on 15 Sept 1749. After spending some time in the Philadelphia area, they migrated to Antrium Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Johan married Eberhardina Frederica Herman in 1773 and had nine Children. After purchasing acreage moved to Brothersvalley Township, Somerset County, where he Farmed. Johan enlisted during the American Revolution as a private in Captain John Marshall’s Company, 2nd Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers. The new regiment formed to join Washington at Trenton in time to participate in the Battle of Princeton on 3 January 1777, serving in the brigade commanded by Brig. General Thomas Mifflin. Johan died 16 Aug 1816 in Brothersvalley Township, and is buried in Pine Hill Luthern Church cemetery near Berlin, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author.
