Born on February 1, 1763 in Bedord County, Pennsylvania to parents William and Margaret Owen Clark. He served as a Private with the Bedford County, PA Militia in the the Pennsylvania Militia. He married Mary Blair (1764-1842), the daughter of John and Jean Blair (from Derry County, Ireland) in 1782; children: William H. b. 1784, Thomas b. 1786, John MD, Elizabeth b. 1790, Stephen b. 1792, Samuel b. 1794, James b. 1796, Daniel b. 1798, Alexander b. 1800, Wesley MD b. 1807 and Joseph. He died on January 3, 1811 in Deerfield Township, Ross County, OH and is buried in the Clark Cemetery on the Clark farm near Clarksburg, Deerfield Township, Ross County, Ohio.
