Augustinius Clapsaddle was born 1727 in Mohawk, Fulton, New York. He was the son of Andreas Clapsaddle and Ana Eva Hess. He married Barbara Wentz. He had George Clapsaddle b. 1767; Augustinus Clapsaddle b. 1774; John Clapsaddle b. 1777;. He died 6 August 1777 in Battlfield Oriskany, New York. His patriotic service included Major. as a A 2nd Lt. Sixth Co, Fourth Battalion, under Colonel Herkimer. Augustinius became a Major, later fought, and was killed at the Battle of Oriskany. He is buried at Battlefield
