Obadiah Chase (1743 – 1799)

Ensign Obadiah Chase served in the 7th Regiment Dutchess County (NY) Militia in the Revolutionary War, commanded by Col. Henry Ludenton.

He had also served as a Private in the French and Indian War in Captain Richard Rea’s Dutchess Militia.

Born in 1743 in Yarmouth, MA and died on 4 July 1799; he is buried in the Old Baptist Cemetery, Carmel, Putnam County, New York. His grave has been marked by the SAR. He was also a Mayflower descendant.
