Valentine Cassell was born at Berks County, Pennsylvania, about 1743. 

Cassell served as a private in the Augusta County Militia in 1758.1  For his Revolutionary War service,  he paid the Rockingham County State Personal Property or “Supply” Tax in 1783.2  (Rockingham County was formed from Augusta County in 1778.)

Cassell sealed his Last Will and Testament, 25 December 1803.  It was presented and recorded at the Pendleton County Court, 4 September 1804.3  In his Will, he named children: Christina, Mary, Henry, Peter, Valentine, John, Eve, George and Jacob.  Valentine’s wife, Maria Margeretha Wilfong Cassell, and George Bible were named executors of the Will.4
