Lieutenant Eleazar Carter was born August 23, 1740 in Hebron, Tolland County, Connecticut. He was the son of Thomas Carter and Sarah Gilbert and was the brother of Thomas Carter, Joseph Carter, John Carter, Mercy (Carter) Brownson and Benoni Carter. He died February 7, 1777 in Warren, Litchfield County, Connecticut. He is buried in the Warren Center Cemetery OLD; Warren, Litchfield County, Connecticut He was the first husband of: Elizabeth Buell Birth 29 Nov 1744 in Hebron, Tolland, Connecticut Colony, Death: 16 Aug 1832 in Darien, Genesee, New York. Her second marriage was to: Major Benjamin Ackley Birth 28 Oct 1739 in East Haddam, Middlesex, Connecticut Colony; Death 28 Mar 1796 in Castleton, Rutland, Vermont Lieut. Eleazer Carter enlisted in the Continental Army. His company was disbanded temporarily, and he returned home, to die of small-pox, in his thirty-seventh year, leaving a widow and six children, the oldest of whom - Lorenzo Carter - was but eleven years of age." Eleazer Carter, (1740), served as lieutenant in Capt. Joseph Carter’s company of Connecticut militia, in the New York campaign, 1776. He was born in Warren, Conn.; died in Litchfield County. She was the daughter of: Samuel Buell Birth 5 Nov 1708 in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut Colony; Death 4 May 1759 in Kent, Litchfield, Connecticut and Mary Judd Birth 1712 in Hebron, Tolland, Connecticut Colony; Death 18 Jul 1754 in Hebron, Tolland, Connecticut Colony. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
