Born in Cookton, Ireland 1762. Parents: James Carr. About 1770, Emigrated from Ireland to US; settled near Yorktown, PA. With Captain Robert Jackson's Company of VA Mil for three months from Oct 1781, and with Captain Ford's Company TN Mil under Gen Wayne from Apr 3 to Nov 4, 1791. Married Apr 11, 1787 to Anne Gates (born Jan 9, 1765, bur in Oxford Cemetery) in Berkley, VA. Children: Jacob, Mary, James, Jane, John, Thomas, William, Enoch, Samuel, Elijah, Josiah. He Died in 1838, Hanover Twp, Butler Co, OH. Buried Ebenezer Cemetery, Hanover, Butler Co, OH, near corner of church, but in 1860, after the death of his wife, remains were removed to Oxford, OH beside his wife. He gave this burying ground off of his farm, and a church was built, but afterwards torn down. GM by descendants who are members of John Reily Chapter 1925. After the Revolution he lived at Berkley Co, VA then went near Cumberland Gap, TN; then to Glasco, Ky and then to Butler Co, OH in 1805 or 1806 and died there in 1838. Was present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown, a minute man. Fur information John Reily Chap. Gravesite unknown.
