Author: Derr Alvin Carpenter
Joel was born in Lancaster PA on June 25, 1756. During the Revolutionary
War he enlisted in 1780 at the age of 24 years as a private 1st Class in Captain R. Staler’s 7th Company, of the Lancaster County Militia commanded by Lt Col Jacob Carpenter.

He married Margaret Killbeffer and had one child: Jiles Carpenter. He died on Aug 10, 1834, and is buried in Salem Union Cemetery, Reamstown, Lancaster County, PA.
