Thomas Camp Jr. was born in 1747 in Virginia and was living in South Carolina by 1776. There are a number of men by the name of Thomas Camp/Kamp and caution should be used not to confuse him with those who served from Virginia or North Carolina [Rutherford County].
He joined on 14 February 1776 as a Private in the 4th Artillery Regiment of South Carolina, commanded by Colonel Owen Roberts. The length of time he was a member of this regiment is unknown. However, if he was still with them at the end of June, he may have been involved in the Battle of Fort Moultrie at Sullivan's Island.
After the war, the family left South Carolina for Georgia.
The only proven wife was Nancy Anne Tarpley. It is likely there are more children to this marriage than those below. These children are the only ones accepted by the SAR and DAR:
Bradford was born on 5 September 1764 and married Drucilla Campbell.
Larkin was born in 1767 and married Margaret Bruster.
Sarah was born in 1773 and married John Calhoun.
Sherwood was born on 9 March 1777 and married Lydia Kennedy.
Burwell Marion was born in 1779 and married Betsy Moore.
The Patriot died sometime after 6 February 1811 [actual date of death is unproven] in Jackson County, Georgia, his place of burial is unknown.

Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!
Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
