Thomas Camp was born on 15 Jun 1757 in Gloucester County, VA to William Camp. Thomas enlisted in Gloucester County, VA in 1777 at the age of 20 and served for three years in the 2d Virginia State Regiment commanded by Colonel William Brent, Captains Philip Taliferro, Minor, Boswell and Nathanial Welsh. He was engage in the Battles of Monmouth and Stony Point.
After the war he married Martha Westray (Westry - Wester), some times referred to as "Patsy" on 12 January 1789. She was the daughter of Robert Westray of Isle of Wright, VA probably born on May 20, 1772. The settles in Southamton County, VA
Thomas died some time before Oct 1825. He left a will which was probated in Southampton County, VA in Oct 1825 naming his children:
Humphrey Stafford, b. 1792 d 1856 - married Nancy Bishop in 1823, John, Thomas -married Miss White, Elizabeth - married Mr. Mcgee, Martha - married Mr. Mangum, Sarah - married Mr. Williams, Mary died in Halifax Count, NC in 1869, Jane died as a child, and Lavina born 27 Mar 1804 and died 20 Mar 1886 - married Mark Jackson.
His widow, Martha receive a pension for his service. She dies April 1850 in Halifax, NC and was buried on her son's farm in the family cemetery near the town of Scotland Neck.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
