Andrew Bussard was born in March 1724 in Alsace Lorraine, Germany, the son of Peter and Mary Samantha [surname indetermined] Bussard.  

He married Anna Maria (Mary) Sweadner on 3 June 1777. She is also buried in Stumpf Cemetery. They had seven known children:

  • Sarah Eleanor was born in 1781 and married Henry Joseph Clapper.
  • David was born on 2 April 1785 and married Elizabeth Parks.
  • Peter was born on 11 April 1787 and married Catherina Heutschu.
  • William S. was born on 22 February 1789 and married Catherine Helm.
  • Adam was born on 24 November 1790 and married Hannah Margaret Smart.
  • Nancy Ann was born on 16 December 1792 and married Heinrich Reichelderfer.
  • Mary Samantha was born in 1794 and married John Albert Prough.

Andrew’s gravestone states he served in the Pennsylvania Militia, but no records can be found.

He came to Saltcreek Township, Pickaway County, Ohio before 1801. Andrew’s Last Will and Testament was signed on 4 July 1821 in Pickaway County, Ohio.

“An early squatter on the place now owned by Samuel Strous was Andrew Bussard. He died at the home of his son-in-law, Henry Reichelderfer, at the advanced age of ninety-nine years and nine months.” History of Franklin and Pickaway Counties, Ohio.

Andrew died on 16 December 1823 and was buried in Stumpf Cemetery.
