Thomas Burris was born c1722 in Norfolk Co, VA. He married Frances Tandy (born 1735 in King and Queen Co, VA) ca 1750. He died c1789 in Orange Co, VA. His service was as a Corporal in 3rd VA Regt of the Continental Line under Capt. William Washington 1776-77 and Capt. John Mercer, Capt. Robert Powell, and Capt. Valentine Peyton from 1777 to Nov 1779.

He married Frances Tandy about 1750 in Virginia. Thomas Burris served in the French and Indian War under Colonel George Washington who personally presented him with a pistol for his bravery. He also was paid 10 pounds by the Virginia Colony as recompense for the loss of an arm. Thomas Burris received public service claims in Orange County, VA for furnishing 875 pounds of beef to the American Revolution. He died before March 23, 1789 in Orange County, VA.
