Patriot David Burlison was born 1752 at Campbell’s Station, Tennessee, son of John Crawford & Sarah Burleson. About the time the war broke-out, David married Ursula Weatherford. During the war, David was a Private in the North Carolina Regulars. He served under Major James Farris’ Battalion of Colonel Wade’s Regiment. A discharge date of October 29, 1782 is found in the records. No detail of this service has been found. In census records of 1790 and 1800, David and family are residing in Montgomery County NC. By 1810, they have relocated to the vicinity of Murphreesboro, Rutherford County TN. Family size grew and by 1795 the couple had about 11 children. David died August 13, 1832 and is buried in a family plot on Burleson farm adjacent to the Stones River Civil War Battlefield of Rutherford County TN. He has a Rev War service monument.

David Burleson was born circa 1755 in Lunenburg County, VA, and died on 13 Aug 1832 in Rutherford County, TN. He is buried next to Isaac, his son (1795-1865), in the Burleson Family Cemetery NW of Murfreesboro, TN, between Highway I-24 and Old Nashville Pike at 8908 Burleson Lane. He married Ursula Weatherford in Anson County, NC, in 1774 and she died in Rutherford County, TN, on 27 Feb 1835.
David’s parents were John Burleson (c1730-1776) and Sarah.
David and Ursula had the following eleven children, all born in NC; John, Moses, Mary, William, David F. Jr., Sarah, Eleanor, Hilkiah, Margaret, Ursula, and Isaac.
David Burleson took the oath of allegiance to the Patriotic Government in Anson County, North Carolina on 12 May 1778 and was paid for services. David served in James Farris’ Battalion, Colonel Wade’s Regiment, North Carolina, and was discharged on 9 October 1782.
David moved from NE Tennessee to Rutherford County, TN, about 1810 and lived there on his farm until his death. In his will dated 28 February 1828, he left Samuel (a Negro), livestock (7), and furniture to Ursula. To each of his sons and daughters, he willed $1. To Isaac, his youngest child, he willed the remainder of his estate.
