Philip Buckner was born on 13 May 1747 in Caroline County, Virginia. He was married on 9 September 1772 to Tabitha Ann Daniel in Caroline County, Virginia. Their known children were:
Samuel was born on 25 October 1773 and married Susan Evans.
Elizabeth “Betsey” was born on 26 April 1776 and married John Blanchard.
Mary “Polly” was born on 16 February 1778 and married Willis Hord.
William was born on 19 June 1780 and married Lucy Taliaferro.
Frances was born on 8 December 1782 and married Dickinson Morris.
Sarah “Sally” was born on 7 May 1786 and married John Pickett.
Susanna was born on 29 March 1789 and married John Taliaferro.
John was born on 31 December 1791 and married Martha Jones Buckner.
Thomas was born on 8 January 1796 and married Matilda Hanson.
During the American Revolution, he served as Commissary supplying the State regiments with food and other necessities. At times he used his own supplies and money and was reimbursed by the State of Virginia. Under this work, he was assigned the rank of Captain, reporting to Lieutenant-Colonel Anthony Thornton.
The Patriot died on 24 October 1820 in Powersville, Bracken County, Kentucky and it is thought he was buried at Buckner Cemetery where a V/A stone was erected in the 1920s.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
