Author: Michael B. Gunn
Born February 16, 1745, a son of George Brown (1690-1770) and Mary "Nancy" (Stevenson) Brown (1698-1776), Hugh Brown served Maryland in Public Service, was an Associator, and was on the Committee of Observation in Frederick County, Maryland. He married Ruth Barney (1752-1837) in 1771; children: Stephen, Richard, George and Nicodermus b. 1787.  He died July 11, 1817 at Steubenville, Jefferson County, Ohio, and was buried at Cross Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, Wintersville, Jefferson County, Ohio. His grave has no tombstone.

Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format.
