Hezekiah Brown was born in 1738 in Orange County, Virginia.1

He was a private and was listed in section 23 on the Culpeper Class List in January 1781.1 The General Assembly in October 1780 passed an act to fill Virginia’s quota of troops during the Revolutionary War. The act would draft militiamen for eighteen-month service tours with the Continental Army. In Culpeper County, the militia forces were divided into 106 classes, and one man was drafted from each class to supply 106 men.2

Hezekiah is listed in the 1797 Franklin County, Kentucky Taxable Property book.His known wives were:

  • Ann Stubblefield
  • Sarah Long

He had the following children: 

  • Hezekiah (about 1774-before 24 January 1846), who married Winney Danks
  • Jael Dorcas (1767-1805), who married Josiah/Josias Wade Sr
  • Elizabeth Betsy (about 1774-before 1850), who married Abraham Thompson
  • Ellen Stubblefield (1764-1855), who married Matthew Clark4
  • Frances Stubblefield (1768-1835), who married Rodham Priest4
  • Anna/Anny
  • Lucy, who married John D. Richardson5
  • Milly
  • Harry
  • Molly (?-before 25 December 1819)
  • Sally (?-before 25 December 1819)

Hezekiah wrote his last will on 14 January 1821 in Franklin County, Kentucky, and died the same year.6 His burial details are unknown.
