Lt. Wilkinson; Col. Barber. Born in 1766 or 64, in New Jersey, near Elizabethtown. Served in 3rd New Jersey Regiment under Colonel Barber in 1780. Commissioned a Lieutenant by St. Clair in Ohio Miliia. He was in the battle of Connecticut Farms June 6, 1780 and Springfield, New Jersey, June 23, 1780 against a large force of Hessians from Staten Island. At the time Major Andre was executed he was ordered to West Point. He left the service during the 1781 soldier revolution against no pay or clothing and never returned. He Died in 1836 or 1840, in Hamilton County, OH, but descendant 48088 D. A. R. states buried in Hamilton County on line, in the Broadwell Farm Cemetery 0.3 mi. N of Broadwell Rd. and about 300’ E of Mt. Carmel Rd. on private property [4150 Mt. Carmel Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45244]. Broadwell Cemetery Campbell Farm; inscribed, Broadwell, Jacob-d 20 Aug 1836/70y "This slab is erected as a token of respect By his disconsolate widow", now extinct. Ref: S. A. R. and Natl No 207308 D. A. R. Fur infor Cincinnati Chap. { Works Progress Administration (WPA) Revolutionary War Veteran burial records in Ohio; Cincinnati-Hamilton County Public Library, History/Genealogy department.} Married Jane Wells or similar name. Children: Cyrus, Lewis, Jacob Jr, and perhaps Samuel. Settled near Mt Carmel, Union Township, or Anderson Township in 1894. He Died in 1836 or 1840, in Hamilton County, OH. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
