Boyer, Jacob, bap. 14 October 1753, d. 11 February 1796 Private, Philadelphia Militia, Revolutionary War
John Jacob Boyer (sometimes called Johan Jacob Bayer) was baptized 14 October 1753 in Old Goshenhoppen Church (Lutheran), Woxall, Upper Salford Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He was married to Catharine Schantz, daughter of Jacob and Margaret Schantz, They had children: Jacob, Henry, Samuel, Daniel, Magdalena, Catharine, Susanna, Elizabeth, John, Philip, and a daughter. He died 11 February 1796 in Perkiomenville, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and was buried in Old Goshenhoppen Church (Lutheran), Woxall, Upper Salford Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, in grave 32, row M; his tombstone, inscribed in German, was still legible in 1973 and had a Revolutionary War marker. His Will was proved on 9 April 1796 in Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
Jacob Boyer was listed between 1779 and 1780 in Frederick Township, Philadelphia (Montgomery after 1784) County, Pennsylvania, paying the Effective Supply Tax (to support the Continental Army) and the Pennsylvania State Tax. He served in August 1779 as a Private in Captain Anthony Leghner's Company, Worcester Township, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania Militia. He served in 1786 as a Private in Captain Michael Gaugler's Company, Fourth Battalion, 6th Class, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania Militia.

Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
