Served from the State of Virginia. Enlisted in 1777 as private in Capt George Wall's Company, Colonel Thomas Elliott's 4th VA Regt. Reenlisted in 1778 as a wagoner in Capt Gabriel long's Company, colonel Daniel Morgan's Regt.

KY. They moved from Kentucky to Ste Genevieve, MO. They had 10 Children.
Sarah, b. 10 Feb 1794, Martinsburg, VA, d. 18 Oct 1858, Boone County, IN, m Isaac Powell 1811 in Nicholas County, KY. They had 11 children. They moved from KY to lawrence County, IN and then to Boone County, IN.

Elizabeth, b 15 Nov 1795 Martinsburg, VA d. 1797
John Boyd Jr. b. 14 Sept 17978, Nicholas County, KY d. 04 Mar 1871, lawrence County, IN. is buried in New Union Cemetery.
Eureka, he manied first wife Nancy??, 12 June 1816 in Bath County, KY. and they had six Children. He manied his second wife, Eliza J. Evans, 12 June 1828 in Lawrence County, IN and they had two children.
Elijah b. 29 march 1799, Bourbon County, KY. d. 1836, Phillips County, AR. m Virginia?? on 13 Mar 1824 in KY. They had six children who where all born in Phillips County AR

John Boyd was born in Virginia in 1760.During the Revolutionary War he enlisted in 1777 and served as a Private and Waggoner in the Virginia 4th Regiment of Foot under Captain George Walls’ Company, commanded on different dates by Major Isaac Beall, Colonel Robert Lawson and Colonel Thomas Elliott.He married Ann Nancy Martin in 1791 and around 1796/7 their family migrated to Nicholas County, Kentucky.They had twelve children, nine of which survived to adulthood.Nancy died in Kentucky in 1825 and John then migrated to Lawrence County, Indiana where he died around 1828 and is buried in Old Shiloh Cemetery at Bedford, Indiana.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
