Jonathan Bolton was born abt 1750 in PA. He was the son of David Bolton. He married Elizabeth Scherer, dau of Valentine Scherer d. 1789 and Maria Catherina Jungling. He had eight children: Valentine, David, Johannes, Maria, Abraham, Isaac, Elizabeth, and Godfrey. He died bef 1816 in Rockingham Co, VA. His patriotic service included MS - Private in PA Mil and PS - Paid Supply Tax in Montgomery Co, PA in Capt. Benjamin Brooke's Co. PA Mil 2nd Comp. 6th Batt, 1777-1780, and Capt. Isaiah Davis 8th Comp. 4th Batt PA Mil in 1783-1785 and Paid PA Supply Tax 1781-1783.
