Nathan Boddie was born on February 22, 1732, in Edgecombe, North Carolina, the child of Elizabeth. He married Chloe Grudup in June 1762 in Nash County, North Carolina. They had nine children during their marriage including: Elijah, Temperance, George, Mourning J., Bnnett, Elizabeth and Mary.

Service Description: MEMBER OF PROVINCIAL CONGRESS; MEMBER OF GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Elected to the Edgecombe County, North Carolina, Committee of Safety in 1774. Member for Edgecombe County of NC Provincial Congress in April 1776, which passed the Halifax Resolves. Member of House of Commons for Edgecombe County in the first General Assembly of the state of North Carolina, 1777. Introduced bill to erect Nash County out of Edgecombe County, December 1777. Elected to Senate of NC for Nash Co, 1778, serving through 1781.
He died on December 7, 1797, in Nash County, North Carolina, at the age of 65, and was buried in the Boddie Family Cemetery at "Rose Hill" plantation on Peachtree Crek off Highway #58, west of Nashville, Nash County, North Carolina.
