Sampson Bobo  P-116960

Sampson Bobo, Sr., was born in 1737 at Orange County, Virginia.  He is of French Huguenot ancestry.  He married Sarah Mary Simpson, 16 April 1763 at Culpepper County, Virginia.  Sarah was born in 1743 at Culpepper County, Virginia.

After moving from Virginia to South Carolina, Sampson served as a private in the Union District Militia under Colonel Brandon.

Sampson Bobo and Sarah Simpson Bobo were the parents of 14 children:  Burrell (born 1763), Absalom (born 1765), Spencer (born 1767), Levinia (born 1768), Mary (born 1769), Sampson, Jr. (born 1771), William Wilder (born 1772), Baram (born 1776), Elizabeth (born 1779), Chaney (born 1780), Willis (born 1782), Nancy (born 1785), and Jeremiah (born 1787).

He died 17 April 1804, at his home, six miles from Cross Keys at Spartanburg County, South Carolina.   Sarah died 16 February 1816 at Woodruff, Spartanburg County, South Carolina.  They are buried at Woodruff Cemetery at Spartanburg County, South Carolina.
