Author: Dr. Michael Bernard Gunn
orn on January 16, 1719 in Chester County, Pennsylvania to parents John (1765-1745) and Sarah Bowater (1688-1765) Beals. He served as a North Carolina Quaker Minister who provided patriotic service by preaching at a Virginia frontier fort during the Revolutionary War. He married Sarah Antrim (1724-1813) on December 7, 1741 in Prince Georges County, Maryland, Sarah was the daughter of Thomas Antrim and Sarah Zelly; children: Mary b. 1743, Sarah b. 1745, Thomas b. 1745, Patience b. 1747, Wil1iam b. 1750, Elizabeth b. 1755, Margaret b. 1757, Daniel b. 1758, Hannah b. 1759, Rachel b. 1763, John b. 1763 and Jacob b. 1768. He died on August 29, 1801 in Ross County, OH and buried at Beals Cemetery, Richmond Dale, Ross County, OH at 34207 Route 35 just west of Richmondale. To commemorate his service, in 1962 a modern headstone was placed in the Londonderry Cemetery on US Route 50 even though the DAR continues to maintain his marker in the BEALS Cemetery. His wife. Sarah died 6 Jul 1813 and was buried at the Fairfield Quaker Cemetery, south of Leesburg. Ohio. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author.
