When Caleb Gottlieb BLACKWELDER Schwarzwalder was born on November 8, 1722, in Pforzheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, his father, Johannes, was 38 and his mother, Elisabetha, was 34.

Blackwelder, John. His son Caleb Blackwelder, his daughter Elizabeth Blackwelder, his son John Blackwelder, his daughter Margaret Blackwelder, and his sister Catherine Blackwelder were naturalized in Brunswick County, Virginia 3 Apr 1746. He was a native of Marquisate, Durlock, Germany. They had previously been in Pennsylvania.
He married Elizabeth "Betsy" Phifer (1724 - 1792) in 1754 in Brunswick County, Virginia. They had seven children in 19 years: Catherine, Isaac, John, Jacob, Martin, Rachel and Daniel

Burial: Saint Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Concord, Cabarrus County, North Carolina, USA which is located at 100 St John's Church Road. His is a standing tombstone in Plot 14-5-N, has German inscription and gives name as "Gottlieb Schwarzwelter" Bronze plaque between his grave and monument for wife Betse Phifer states: "Both Revolutionary Patriots"
