Born August 4, 1763 in New Jersey. He served as a Private in Col Philip Van Cortland's NY Regiment. He married Catherine Cramer (1763-1849) in 1787. He died October 18, 1832 at Hamilton, OH and was buried in Old Cemetery on Hampton Street in Hamilton, Butler County, OH. Ref: Natl No 100632, Vol 101, p 197, D. A. R. Lin. Born in 1758 or 1763, New Jersey where he enlisted in the 2nd New Jersey Regiment, commanded by Colonel Cortland, and served until the end of the war. Died in October 18, 1832, and drew a pension up to the time of his death, and it was awarded to his widow (Mrs. Black died in 1848, aged 84 years). He was buried in a private burial ground, but moved in 1863 to Buried on November 5, 1863 at Laurel Cemetery 5915 Roe Street in Madisonville, Lot 64, Esc. E, Grave 10.. Ref S. A. R. National No 100638, Vol 101, p 197. D. A. R. Lin. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
