Born December 30, 1760 in Ireland and a brother to Finley Bigger, Registrar of the U.S. Treasury, John Bigger served as a Private in Capt Walter McVinnis' PA Company 4th Battalion, Cumberland Company. He married Mary Bigger (1763-1841); children: Thomas b. 1792, Sarah, Rebecca, John, William, Joseph, James b. 1805 & Hannah. John and Mary migrated from the Conococheague region to the Maryland-Pennsylvania border to Kentucky in 1788 where their children were born, thence to Ohio after the turn of the century with the church migration 1804. He died at 71 years of age December 30, 1831 and was buried at Pioneer Cemetery, Grave 35, 3851 Upper Bellbrook Road, Bellbrook, OH. Centerville, OH. At his side sleeps his wife Mary, a distant relative of the same family name, (1763-1844). She was born in Maryland and was a sister of Colonel John Bigger, legislator and pioneer of Warren County, Ohio. He has a very worn tombstone, a DAR marker and his name is on an upright stone monument along with eight others placed by DAR. References: 56th-77th Annual Reports DAR. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
