Adam Bieber was born in Zweibrucken, Province of Alsace, Germany, on 7 July 1754, the son of Valentine Bieber. He was married in about 1782 to Magdalena Reber of Berks County, Pennsylvania. She was born on 11 October 1754 and died on 4 February 1813. Their known children were:

  • Catharina
  • Anna Maria "Mary"
  • John
  • Solomon
  • Margaret "Mary" Magdalena

In the book Annals of Buffalo Valley Pennsylvania, the author writes: "Christian Diehl (written Dale) lived on part of the Ewing tract, (now Colonel Slifer’s farm, near the iron bridge.) The late John Beeber told me that his father’s term of service was purchased by Mr. Diehl from the captain whose ship he came over in, and he helped Mr. Diehl clear that place in 1772, owned then by Ludwig Derr. Adam Beeber then returned to Philadelphia, and served five years in the army, after which he came up to Muncy, where he settled and died. Christian Diehl’s grandson, Captain Christian Dale, of Harris Township, Centre County, aged sixty-six, confirms the story, as a tradition of the family, in regard to Adam Beeber’s service with his grandfather."

Adam purchased land in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, in 1784 but evidently did not move his family there (near the town of Muncy) before 1786 or 1787. After his wife's death, Adam was a widower for about 29 years. Adam and his two brothers, Nicholas and John, were among the organizers of Immanuel Lutheran Church near Muncy.

Later he moved to Buffalo Township, Union County, Pennsylvania, where he was residing when he was allowed pension on his application executed on 24 September 1832, aged seventy-eight years. His pension certificate No. 5551, was issued on 12 February 1833, at the rate of $24.99 per annum.

The Patriot died on 16 March 1842, aged 87 years, 8 months, and 9 days. His brothers, John and Nicholas are buried in the Immanuel Lutheran Church graveyard, and Adam and his wife are buried in the Old Hill Graveyard east of Muncy, Pennsylvania.

Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
