Job Bennington was born Feb 13, 1758 in Harford County, Maryland to Henry Bennington and Elizabeth Barnes. Job’s grandfather John came to Maryland from England about 1690. Job’s first wife is unknown.
Job Bennington enlisted for the war on Jul 24, 1776 in the Maryland line and became a matross. He was transferred to General Knox’s division in the Pennsylvania artillery on May 6, 1777. He served at Long Island, Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, Germantown, Valley Forge, Monmouth, and Yorktown. After the war he moved to Rockingham County, Virginia where he applied for and received a pension on May 5, 1823.
Job passed away in Jul 24, 1823 without a Will. He had 6 children, Thomas, Catherine Bodkin, Sally McDonald, John G., Rebecca Norcross, Job.
