Author: Michael B. Gunn
Born June 6, 1740 at Dutchess County, New York, a son of Gideon Benedict (1710-1748) and Dorothy (Prindle) Benedict, Aaron Benedict served as a Private with Connecticut in the American Revolution. He married Elizabeth Knowles (1741-1851) in 1759: children: Gideon, Dorcus, Phebe b. 1762, Ann, Reuben b. 1768, William b. 1776, Cyrus, Aaron, and Sylvester b. 1780. He died in 1816 and was buried at Alum Creek Friends Cemetery, Marengo, Morrow County, Ohio. He was the first person to be buried in the Alum Creek Friends (Quaker) Cemetery. His tombstone is old and barely legible.
