  1. Served in the militia under Captains Wilson and Kimball
  2. Later he again served in the militia in Griffith Rutherford's Brigade under Captain Harris and Colonel Loftin

Directions to Cemetery / Gravesite:
  • From the intersection of NC Hwy 109 and NC Hwy 27 in Troy, NC, take Hwy 109 north for roughly 7.7 miles to the intersection with River Road on the left in the community of Uwharrie. Turn left onto River Rd and follow it 2.8 miles to the church and cemetery on the right
  • The grave for Benjamin Bell is located within the area surrounded by a low rock wall. Enter the walled area and the two stones for Mr. Bell are on the right-hand side. Both a modern, VA-type stone and an original stone are present
