Author: Michael B. Gunn
Born in 1743, Wurttemberg, Germany, Charles Ludwig Baum came to Clermont County from Maryland in 1798.  He served in Captain James Douglas' 3rd Company, 2nd Battlion Cumberland County, Pennsylvania Militia. He married Barbara Youngken; children: Catherine and Charles, both born in Clermont County.  He died in 1817 at Chilo, Clermont County, Ohio, and was presumably buried in Clermont County. His actual burial site is unknown.
