John Baucom Sr. was born about 1720 in Wake County, North Carolina to James Baucom and Frances Drake who came to America from England.

John married Rachel Barker in 1754 in Wake County, NC. They had three sons: Cader, Josiah and Lewis B.

John provided supplies to the North Carolina Militia. He received payment for his services from the Revolutionary Army Accounts following the war.

John resided in Wake County, North Carolina until his death in 1800.
