Jeremiah Barrus was born in Cumberland Rhode Island on the 18 Oct 1756 was married and moved to Richmond, New Hampshire where he had five children: Mellen, Abigail, Prudence, Jeremiah and Alvan. He served under General John Stark in the Continental Army. He was a member of Col. Ephriam Doolittle’s Regiment from Winter Hill on Oct. 6, 1775 having enlisted on May 1, 1775. He re-enlisted March 1776 under Col. Shephered, Jun 1, 1777 under Capt Waitcomb and again on July 1, 1780 under Lafayette. He fought in the Battles of Bunker Hill, Trenton and Princeton. His pension records are filed under the #S10345 in the Nat’l Archives. He died in Richmond, New Hampshire on the 18 Oct 1850 at the age of 94.
