Private in the Company of Captain David Wheeler commanded by Colonel Asa Barnes. The Company marched from Lanesborough to Saratoga on the Alarm in 1781

Jacob Bacon was born on 6 May 1740 in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut, the son f Nathaniell and Jane Bacon.
He was married in about 1767 at Lanesborough, Massachusetts to Ruth Wilcox. According to the records at Lanesborough, Massachusetts, the couple had the following children:
Jerusha was born on 2 March 1768 and she married Almond Harrison.
Stephen was born on 12 March 1770 and married Mehitable Russell.
Joel was born on 25 January 1772 and married Polly Wheaton.
Esther was born on 6 December 1774 and she married Preserved Wheeler.
He was married a second time to Lois Parker on 6 February 1784 at Lanesborough. Their children recorded at Lanesborough were:
Elixly or Electa was born on 5 May 1788 and she married John Boyd.
Lory was born on 17 May 1790.
During the American Revolution, Jacob took the Oath of Fidelity to his new Country and State in 1779. He also served as a Private in the Company of Captain David Wheeler under the command of Colonel Asa Barnes. During his service, the Company marched from Lanesborough to Saratoga on the Alarm in 1781.
The Patriot died on 27 December 1819 in Williamstown, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, and was buried at Westlawn Cemetery.
