Qualifying Service Description:
1776, he served as a Private in the company of Captain Manasseh Sawyer, commanded by Colonel Nicholas Dike.
1776-1777, he served as a Corporal in the company of Captain Moses Harrington, commanded by Colonel Dike.

Jonas Babcock was born on 11 December 1748 in Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1
He married Miriam Hudson on 30 November 1772 in Northborough, Worcester County, Massachusetts.2 Among their known children were:
Persis was born on 6 May 1773 and married Adam Bartlett.
Betty was born on 8 June 1774 and married Taylor Maynard.
Jonas was born on 10 May 1778 and married Elizabeth “Betsy” Harrington.
Zeinne or Jeinne “Jenny” was born on 19 November 1781 and married James Keyes.
Lydia was born on 28 August 1783 and married Elijah Saunders.
Charles was born on 7 July 1786 and not mentioned in his father’s estate.
Sarah “Sally” was born on 7 August 1791 and married David Mahan Jr.
During the American Revolution, Jonas served as a Corporal in Captain Harrington's Company, Colonel Dike's Regiment, 1776 - 1777, of the Massachusetts Line.3,4
He also served in the rank of Private in the company of Captain Manasseh Sawyers, commanded by Colonel Nicholas Dike. We find his name in a pay abstract for mileage, etc., to Dorchester Heights, probably in September 1776. He also received pay for travel allowance, etc.4
The Patriot died on 24 August 1838 in Northborough, Worcester County, Massachusetts, and was buried at New Cemetery.

Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format.
