Peter Babb served as a Captain in the Frederick County Militia during the Revolutionary War.

Peter was born to Thomas Babb and Sarah (Foulk) around 1735 in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and died in Frederick County, Virginia, around 1820. He married Mary Bowen (daughter of Henry Bowen and Ann Moon, who was born in Frederick County, Virginia, on 3 April 31742 and died in 1825.

Peter and Mary had five daughters and five sons:

  • Rachel (1762-1790) married Isaac Thomas, Sr.
  • Ann (1771-1853) married John Mercer
  • Mary (1795-1853) married Richard Hollingshed
  • Hannah (1775) (married Thomas Smith)
  • Sarah (1785-1866) married Christian Stephens or Christopher Stevens).
  • Sampson (1764-1812) married Nancy Kirkpatrick
  • Henry (1770-1820) married Elizabeth Walker and Grace McCool
  • Abner (1768-1815) married Susannah Robinson
  • Peter (1769-1837) married Jane Bell
  • David. (1778-1851) married Mary Hensell
