Author: Alan Wenzel
Thomas was born in 1735, the son of John Arthur. Thomas was a Bedford County Militia Company Captain, 7th Regiment of Virginia Line, during the American Revolutionary War. After the war for Independence Thomas returned to his home in Bedford County, Virginia where in 1787 he is listed as owning three horses and thirteen head of cattle. He wrote his will on February 20, 1799, having a codicil added on December 16, 1806. He died in 1819, and his will was proved on January 24, 1820. He married possibly 1st Jane and 2nd Mrs. Mary Snow widow of Henry. He had eleven children: Nancy, Benjamin, Thomas, John, Stephen, Joel, William, Fanny, Mary, Priscilla, and Sarah. He also furnished supplies in Bedford Co, VA providing beef, corn, bacon and fodder for VA troops in 1782.
