John Arthur was born abt 1707 in probably Ireland. He was the son of unknown parents. He married Rebecca. He had six children: Elizabeth, Mary, Barnabas, Thomas, Sarah, and Isabella. He died abt Jan. 1793 in Bedford Co, VA. His patriotic service included PS - Furnished supplies in Bedford Co, VA in supplying road work in 1767 (Invalid service now pended).
