He served as a Private in the company of Captain Phillip Rodgers, commanded by Colonel Benjamin Davis of the Westmoreland County Militia.
1779, he served as a Juror in Yogohania County, Virginia.

Hezekiah Applegate was born about 1745 in Burlington County, New Jersey, the son of Thomas and Sarah Applegate.
He married Amelia Doughtit on 24 September 1763 in Colonial New Jersey. Amelia was born on 27 August 1748 and died before 1785 in Yohogania County, Virginia. They had the following known children:
Aaron was born on 10 June 1779 and married Mary Rebecca Ross.
Samuel was born on 5 February 1783.
Mary was born on 20 March 1784 and married Burwell Burchett.
Hezekiah married a second time about 1785 to Sarah Britton, who was born on 31 March 1766 and died on 29 November 1828 in Scott County, Indiana. They had the following known children:
Hezekiah, Jr., was born about 1791 and died in 1815 at Brownsville, Jefferson County, New York, from wounds received in the War of 1812.
Nathaniel was born on 19 May 1792 and married 1) Elizabeth Smith and 2) Elizabeth Johnson Spiller.
Thomas Jefferson was born on 1 March 1797 and married 1) Sarah Lovett and 2) Elizabeth Rose.
Susannah Catherine was born on 16 October 1799 and married Zacheus Sutton.
Nancy was born on 23 February 1802 and married John Mount.
James Monroe was born on 31 October 1804 and married 1) Sally Stark and 2) Jerusha Stark.
Delilah Applegate was born on 30 December 1807.
Rachel Applegate was born about 1810 and married George Dunnent.
Samantha Applegate was born about 1813 and married Jacob Souder.
During the Revolutionary War, Hezekiah served as a Private and Ranger on the Pennsylvania frontier in Westmoreland County. He served under Captain Philip Rogers and received depreciation pay from Pennsylvania for this service. He also served as a juror in Yohogania County, Virginia, in 1779.
Hezekiah was a faithful and serving Baptist. He took a leading role in organizing the Thompson Settlement Baptist Church in December 1800 and was selected as the first clerk in January 1801. He offered his home as a place of worship in 1802. In March 1816, he was selected to the pastorship of the church. After serving several months, he sought to become a traveling minister and, after some time, returned to serve as a delegate to the Baptist association.
The Patriot died about 1820 and is said to be buried in the Old Ox Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Findley Township, Scott County, Indiana, alongside his second wife, Sarah.

Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format.
