Elias Alexander was born in 1746 in Maryland, the child of Adam and Mary Sarah. He had one son with Nancy Agnes McCall on March 11, 1778. He died on May 13, 1818, in Rutherford County, North Carolina, at the age of 72. He is buried in the Sugar Bush Creek Cemetery, Charlotte, Mecklenburg County. The grave was marked by the Samuel Bacot Chapter, SC DAR.
Revolutionary War service as a commissioned Col., (NC) Militia (Col. Lacey & Williams) camped along Green River, Rutherford Co., NC at Alexander's Ford; there, Virginian Col. Wm Campbell, Cols. Shelby, Sevier, Cleaveland had Lacey interrogated regarding spying activity, during the (Oct 5th) reliable exchange, Lacy convinced all that Loyalist led by Ferguson were encamped at King's Mountion. Overmountain men were resolved now, the direction of their quarry.
